MINUTES OF BOARD MEETING
HELD
November 23, 2004
The Board of Trustees of the Oak
Hill United School Corporation met in the Administration Office on Tuesday,
November 23, 2004. All Board Members
were present except Kevin Pearson and Dana Biggs. Also present were Superintendent James W.
Smith, Business Manager Jill Morphew, Terry Renbarger, Mike Keaffaber, Bill
Bishop, Joel Martin, Greg Perkins, Harold King, Teresa Shafer, Ruth Davies, Joe
Weaver, Patti Lehman, Lynn Calloway, Jon Clark, Jeff Harts, Sandy Ertel, Linda
Zappone, Jenny Horner, and Recording Secretary Norma Sweeten. Representing the news media were Jonathan
Betheley of the Chronicle Tribune and
Casey Mellady of the
1. CALL TO ORDER
Mr.
Toby Middlesworth, President, called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m..

MOMENT

Mr.
James Smith opened the meeting with reflection and prayer.
3. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Mr. Middlesworth led the Pledge of
Allegiance.
4. MINUTES APPROVED
The minutes of the regular meetingand
executive session of November 9, 2004, were approved as submitted.

Carol Murphy moved to approve all
personnel recommendations as presented.
Brian Middlesworth seconded the motion, and it carried 5 ayes and 0
nays.

7. NEW BUSINESS
A.
Consideration of Permission to
Advertise Public Hearing
Mrs. Morphew asked
the Board permission to advertise for a public hearing on December 7th.
The hearing will be for an additional appropriation. Brian
Middlesworth moved to advertise the public hearing, and Carol Murphy seconded the motion. It passed with a vote of 5 ayes and 0 nays.
B. Consideration of Permission to Borrow Funds
Mrs. Morphew asked
the Board permission to borrow $400,000 from First Farmers’ Bank at 3% interest
to fund the remainder of the 2004 certified budget. Mark Johnson moved to give Mrs. Morphew
permission to borrow the money. Carol
Murphy seconded the motion, and it passed 5 ayes to 0 nays.

Scott Dubois moved to pay regular
claims # 1086 through # 1168. Mark
Johnson seconded the motion, and it carried 5 ayes and 0 nays.
10. ANNOUNCEMENTS/REPORTS
Mr. Smith requested that the Board preview
the school calendar for 2006-2007.
Mr. Smith reported that he and Gene
Johnson will be attending the
The Superintendent announced the
next Board meeting is scheduled for December 7th.
Mr. Smith introduced Lynn Calloway
and Jon Clark who presented a program on Differentiated Instruction at the high
school.
