The
Board of Trustees of the Oak Hill
United School Corporation met in the
Administration Office on Tuesday,
April 10, 2007. All Board Members
were present except Kent L. Sumpter.
Also present were Superintendent
James W. Smith, Business Manager
Sandy London, Recording Secretary
Norma Sweeten, Joel Martin, Terry
Renbarger, Bill Bishop, Greg
Perkins, Mike Keaffaber, Teresa
Shafer, Sue Mills, Denise Horner,
and Joe Lenon. Representing the
news media were Donna Burchick of
the Oak Hill Times and Amy McCarty
of the Peru Tribune.

Mr.
Middlesworth, President, called the
meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

NEW BUSINESS
A. Consideration
of Agreement with Town of Converse
Mr.
Smith introduced Joe Lenon,
President of the Converse Town
Board, who proposed an “agreement in
principle” between the town and Oak
Hill to construct a 200,000 gallon
water tower on an 80’X100’ partial
of land on the Converse Elementary
grounds. Any approvals granted at
this time are preliminary with final
approval considered when a formal
agreement is offered by the Town of
Converse.

B. Consideration
of Out-of-State/Overnight Field Trip
Mr.
Smith stated that there were two
requests for out-of-state field
trips. One was for fourth and fifth
grade students to visit the NASA
Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama,
in March of 2008. The other was the
annual Music Department reward trip
to King’s Island.

C. Consideration
of Fundraising Requests
Mr.
Smith said that there were also two
fundraisers requests. The first is
for the Space Camp trip for those
students and parents who wish to
participate to provide funds for the
excursion. The other is for the FFA
to partner with Achor Hardware to
sell spring plants in May in
Converse.

Smith explained that the Swayzee
Christian Church preschool would
like to offer equipment and supplies
to the Oak Hill kindergarten classes
since the preschool will not be
offering any classes after this
school year.

Presentation of Elementary Student
Handbook Changes for 2007-08
Principal Terry Renbarger presented
recommended revisions of the
elementary student handbook proposed
by principals and teachers for the
2007-08 school year. These
recommendations will be considered
at the April 26th Board
meeting.

Presentation of Projected
Enrollments and Staffing Issues for
2007-08
Mr.
Smith reported the projected
enrollments and staffing issues
reflecting those enrollements for
the 2007-08 school year. The
solutions to these issues will be
recommended to the Board on April 26th.
