We are
very proud of the recognition that we have received as a
result of the academic accomplishments of our students.
Public Law 221 School Improvement Status based on
improvement and performance:

6 times
(1988/89, 1989/90, 1993/94, 1996/97, 1997/98 and 1998/99), Sweetser Elementary has been recognized as a "Four Star
School" in the state of Indiana. This means that our test
scores and attendance rate ranked in the top 25% of all
elementary schools in the state.

8 times
(1988/89, 1989/90, 1990/91, 1991/92, 1992/93,
1995/96,1996/97 and 1998/99), we have received a "School
Improvement Award" given annually to those schools who show
gains from one year to the next in their test scores and
attendance rate.
Additionally,
each year we have had a number of our students have their
literary works published in several anthologies to which we
have submitted their works. Typically, Sweetser Elementary
ranks in the top 10% of the over 600 schools who
participated, in terms of the number of selections chosen
for publication.
