About the Community:
Swayzee Elementary School is located
in the town of Swayzee on State Road 13 in rural, western Grant
County. The town has a population of 1,011. This community is
comprised of small businesses, residential areas and farms. The
majority of the community is retired or works in the nearby Marion
or Kokomo area.
As you can see by the graph above,
less than 22% of the county has school age children. Grant County
continues to lose population along with our Grant County schools.
The Oak Hill United School Corp. has adopted attendance centers
at each of the elementaries. This means that we now house all of
the corporation’s 5th and 6th graders. There
are five sections each of the 5th and 6th
grade classes.
